Description

The Plastic Surgery Institute of Miami’s Rhinoplasty and Aesthetic Surgery Fellowship will be a unique opportunity for a plastic surgeon to gain profound exposure and training in the field of cosmetic and functional rhinoplasty, in addition to breast surgery, aging face surgery and other aesthetic procedures. The practice is located in a brand new, state-of-the art. 8,000sq ft facility with a 3 OR surgery center and a Medspa. The fellowship director, Dr. Ghersi, is a prolific rhinoplasty surgeon with an average yearly case log of 450-500 rhinoplasties. He uses the latest techniques and tools for his rhinoplasty practice, including preservation rhinoplasty, open structural rhinoplasty and piezo electrosurgery. In addition to rhinoplasty, the fellow will have access through Dr. Ghersi, to a full gamut of breast enhancement procedures. Moreover, three additional plastic surgeons will be part of the practice and provide the fellow with additional exposure to areas such as face and neck lifting, oculoplastics, body liposculpture, and more.

On the academic side, the fellowship will provide an opportunity for the trainee to work with the practices' surgeons on various manuscripts and/or presentations at national meetings. Successful completion of this research requirement will give way to an independent, supervised, cosmetic surgery practice for the fellow. He/she will have the opportunity to see patients in private consultation, devise an operative plan, perform a procedure, and provide follow up care under the supervision of the fellowship director. These opportunities will give the fellow invaluable experience, in addition to photographs to take to their future practice and an additional reimbursement component. Other responsibilities include ER and practice call, monthly PSI conference preparation (m&m, research update, didactic), as well as assisting surgeons in surgical and clinical patient care.

Situated in South Miami, PSI provides for a wonderful location for professional activities outside the practice. A close affiliation with Cleveland Clinic Florida will allow the fellow to participate in that fellowship program's weekly academic activities. Other local venues such as the Miami Society of Plastic Surgeon's Meetings, The Baker Gordon Meeting, and The Global Aesthetic Conference are just a few of the other plastic surgery related opportunities available to the fellow.

In addition to a year-long warm climate, Miami is a booming, multicultural city that will give the fellow unmatched leisure opportunities. Some of these include world-class art, museums and restaurants, ample parks, beaches and ocean-related activities.
