Bad results from cosmetic surgeon

I can't advise you about taking legal action, but it certainly sounds like you didn't get results that you're happy with. Unfortunately, in your case the horse is out of the barn already. The best chance for a great result is during the first operation. Of course, you can't go back in time and start with an ASAPS member surgeon. Revisions have limitations due to the existing scarring and the choices of technique made during the first operation. I would recommend you find a surgeon with whom you have confidence and feel comfortable with to have a revision procedure done at the right time. In my practice I have unfortunately seen a good number of patients for revision surgery after having been to less qualified and/or experienced surgeons. Though challenging its usually possible to improve things significantly. I hope you are able to reach your goals soon.

The decision to pursue legal action is yours to choose but having results that did not meet your expectations is not considered malpractice. Now if your surgeon promised you in writing a certain outcome and you have this in writing, you can decide if you want to see an attorney or not, to see if you can recover anything from this as your revision procedure will cost more as your case is now more challenging and complex. Unfortunately, if your surgeon is no longer available, your only recourse is to have someone qualified to address your concerns at costs that are likely to exceed your original fees, especially if your surgeon was trying to undercut the market due to his credentials (or lack there of). If you want to pursue your surgeon for poor results, you will have to get a second opinion (with your pre-op photos in hand) to see if you truly are as bad as you say and to see if the standard of care was not met.
