About Heather Faulkner, MD, MPH, FACS

Introduction
Dr. Faulkner was born and raised in New York City. She attended the University of Southern California for college, medical school and general surgery residency. She attended plastic surgery residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and did a fellowship in breast reconstruction and aesthetic breast surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School. She is board certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. She earned a Masters degree in Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health.

Professional Background

During general surgery residency, Dr. Faulkner spent 2 years in Boston. In the first year she earned a Masters in Public Health degree from the Harvard School of Public Health. She spent the second year as a Harvard Medical School research fellow at Boston Children's Hospital in the Department of Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Faulkner was a member of the faculty of Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital from 2015-2021 where she was the Director for Quality and Safety for the Division of Plastic Surgery and the Chief of Plastic Surgery at Mass General Brigham Salem Hospital. In 2021, she joined the faculty of Emory University School of Medicine in the Division of Plastic Surgery. She was appointed the Director of Clinical Research for the Emory Division of Plastic Surgery.

She is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (The Aesthetic Society). She is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Association of Women Surgeons, the Association of Academic Surgery, and other national professional organizations. She has authored publications (under her maiden name Rosen and married name Faulkner) on pediatric and adult plastic surgery as well as health disparities. She has worked as a surgeon-biostatistician since completing the MPH degree in 2008. Dr. Faulkner has presented her research at national and international plastic surgery meetings.
