had a baby a year ago by C section but my tummy still looking fat what can I do? I want to get my shape back!

Congratulations on your new born. During pregnancy the uterine enlargement pushes the anterior abdominal wall muscles apart causing a relaxation and bulging in the abdominal wall. In addition, some fat deposit in that area exacerbating the condition. The ideal solution is what we call tummy tuck or abdominoplasty where the muscles are tightened back and excess skin and fat are removed to achieve your pre pregnancy shape. It is usually recommended that before this procedure you try to lose as much weight as you can and to have completed your family. It is not contraindicated to get pregnant 1 year after the procedure, however, if this happens you might lose the results you obtained with the surgery. It is very important to choose an ASAPS member well versed in abdominoplasty and body contouring to get your optimal results.

I am 25 years old and I only have one child. I had a c-section done 5 years ago and my belly has not been the same since. I am 4,11 and 180 pounds. I love my thighs and hips and I even like my arms. I just hate my belly and the fat under my neck. I tried the diet and exercise but only lost 15 pounds…

Many times after pregnancy the belly muscles get relaxed. In this case a tummy tuck would give a better result. If your problem is only excess fat then liposuction alone might be a solution. The only way to know which one would benefit you more is to assessed by a Plastic Surgeon. Please chose an ASAPS member in your area to get answers to your concerns.

Hello, I am looking to get my double chin removed but I can't seem to find a good professional surgeon in Montreal, Canada. I found one but her ratings were terrible, I mean 2 stars! I would really appreciate the help!

Dear Anna,
A double chin deformity can have several reasons, the most common of which at your mentioned age is excess fat in the neck area. This fat can be either under the skin or under the muscle. Each condition has a different solution. The easiest way to know where your fat is located is by having an examination by a qualified plastic surgeon. In Canada there are several ASAPS members who are qualified to check your condition. Go to ASAPS website and use the find a doctor feature to search for nearby members.

I have lost 80 lbs, I now weigh 130 lbs, 5' 4" tall. Can I still have a tummy tuck, if I take high blood pressure pills and angina pills, but both are controlled 100% by taking the pills? Also if I had a sterilization (tubal ligation done to not have any more kids), can I still have a tummy tuck…

Loosing weight is a very good thing that will help you solve your blood pressure and heart problem. Doing a tummy tuck will help you maintain this result according to a new study that showed that body contouring surgeries help patients maintain their weight reduction results. However, a thorough preoperative assessment for your cardiovascular status will determine your risk for the surgery and hence will give you enough information to be able to make your decision based on a risk/benefit equation.
