What type of neck lift incisions are there?
There are various incision approaches to neck lift surgery that vary depending on the extent of the surgery and your desired outcome.
If you have advanced signs of aging and are looking to make more significant enhancements, you will likely need a more extensive procedure. This may include a corset platysmaplasty (in which the platysma muscles are tightly sewn together to create a smooth neck contour). The surgeon will make a small incision under your chin (submental incision) and a limited facelift-type incision behind each ear.
If you’re a younger patient who wants a neck lift with minimal change to your face, your surgeon may complete your neck correction with a submental incision or make an incision behind each ear.
Will I have any scars after my neck lift?
Since neck lift incisions are often around your ears or under your chin, neck lift scarring usually isn’t very noticeable, and the scars will likely fade over time.
