I had the facetite procedure on my jowls seven weeks ago. The upper left side of my lip is not functioning properly. I can't drink from a straw, or pucker my lips. I can chew food, but have difficulty keeping food in my mouth on the affected side. Spitting after brushing my teeth is abnormal. I have tingling and itching sensations on that side of my face. The surgeon assured me that this was the result of a bruised nerve and that full function will eventually return. I have a follow up appointment two months, but I am nervous as I've not noticed any improvement in function seven weeks out. Should I be concerned and seek specialized treatment for this condition? Thank you

At this point in time, there is not much to be done but to wait for further healing. Bruised and traumatized nerves can sometimes take 3-4 months to recover, and possibly longer. Please follow up with your surgeon as scheduled.
