6 months ago, received breast augmentation, over the muscle 360cc Polytech. In January, my boyfriend (145lb) put his deadweight on my back while I laid on my chest. It was stupid, but I didn't think anything would happen. A few days later, I noticed a strange "edge" on the side of my left breast…

The likelihood of your 145lb boyfriend's dead weight being place on your back causing an implant rupture, or even a capsule tear is minimal...unless maybe he jumped on you. The "edge" and the "on and off" shooting pains are not uncommon, especially in a subglandular breast augmentation. There is really no such thing as a "minor rupture." An implant is ruptured, or not ruptured. Although MRI is the most sensitive radiologic study for identifying a damaged breast implant, maybe an ultrasound can help support or allay your concerns. Your surgeon might also want to speak to the radiologist that read the MRI for a more specific diagnosis. If damaged, the implant should be removed. Good luck!

I had a consultation with a surgeon who is listed as ABPS certified. He suggested a breast lift under local anesthesia in his office. I wanted to ask if performing a mastopexy under local anesthesia is advisable and safe?

Advisable, probably not. Possible, certainly. Safe, most likely. Depending on what type of mastopexy you require, and assuming that you asked to have it done under local anesthesia.

Dr. Francis performs his office based surgical procedures in his fully accredited ambulatory center, Park 71 Plastic Surgery, P.C.. This facility is located in the privacy of his New York City office and is certified by The American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF). Both the ultra modern surgical suite and recovery area is equipped to hospital standards and are completely state-of-the-art. Dr. Francis uses only Board Certified Anesthesiologists and provides safe, quality care, in a comfortable environment specifically designed to accommodate your plastic surgery needs.
